A hacker is a person who is familiar with computer and information technology and uses this knowledge to solve problems, research new technologies or modify computer systems. The term “hacker” was originally used to describe a person who focuses on solving technical problems, but in recent years it has been used more frequently in connection with illegal activities such as computer crime and cyber attacks.
There are three types of hackers:
White-hat hackers: They are ethical hackers who are hired by companies or governments to uncover and fix security vulnerabilities in computer systems.
Black hat hackers: They are criminal hackers who illegally penetrate computer systems in order to steal data or cause damage.
Grey-hat hackers: They are a mixture of white-hat and black-hat hackers and use their skills to uncover and publicize security vulnerabilities without being officially commissioned to do so.
Most hackers are self-taught technology experts who have acquired their skills through constant experimentation and learning. They are often well versed in programming languages and have a deep understanding of network protocols and operating systems. Some hackers are also able to manipulate or modify hardware to perform certain functions.
Although hackers are often associated with illegal activities, there are also many legal and legitimate uses for their skills. Many companies employ hackers to protect their computer systems and uncover security vulnerabilities before they can be exploited by criminals.
